Feminist Rant

I'm not one to go off on a tangent about much of anything. Nor would I call myself a feminist. When I picture feminist rants, visions of women burning their bras and demanding equal pay for doing the same jobs as men from an era gone by pop into my head.

I remember back in 2012, a man by the name of Todd Akin shot himself in the political foot by saying: "From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," Akin said of pregnancy caused by rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist."

I remember a lot of women being completely stunned by that idiot remark. Could anyone really be that dumb? Seriously? WTF is "legitimate rape?" And pray tell, what freaking hill-cricker doctors told him that?! If I was ever going to go off on a feminist rant, it would have been over the statement that moron from the dark ages made.

It's obvious he's a republican, (and even more obvious after that observation, that I'm NOT). What's sad is, he's from Missouri. I call Missouri home now, and I just want to clarify, for the record, not all Missourians are that damn stupid. Even the republicans. (Thankfully).

Yes folks, that's as close to a feminist rant you'll get from me. Really, it's more of a political rant... but that's a topic for another day.
