The Dead Tree: Fire Inside

In the days that followed Shelby Anne's visit, a silent, inner anger began to boil inside of me. In my head, I plotted various unfortunate accidents for Grayson and Shelby Anne. I'd learned never to speak aloud the bad things I wished to befall another, for they had an uncanny way of coming to pass.

When wishing someone ill will, I kept it to myself. I believed if I voiced my thoughts, they would happen -- for good or evil, and when they did, my own doubts and guilt would consume me like a slow burning fire, after the rage had passed.
