The Dead Tree: The Fortune Teller

**Brief Excerpt: Subject to change pending editing.**

"Let me sleep on it and formulate a plan. I'll be in touch sometime tomorrow..." I trailed off. I needed to make lists. My OCD tendencies screamed for me to get organized. I knew if I tried to sleep with a head full of things to do, I wouldn't get a minute's worth of rest.

"Okay," she said. "Stop worrying, you're there for a reason!"

I snorted softly. "What might that reason be?"

"Not telling. Not yet. Besides, you wouldn't believe me if I did." She giggled, and from the mischievous tone, I knew she must have had one of her fortune teller's epiphanies and I wasn't sure I wanted to know.

"Goodnight Madam Marlena," I teased and disconnected the call.
