January 26, 2014 StoryStarter prompt: "Don't you love me anymore?" she asked, tears in her eyes. I never quit," he answered, "that's why I had to leave."

"Don't you love me anymore?" she asked, tears in her eyes.

"I never quit," he answered, "that's why I had to leave."

He cupped her face with his strong hands and brushed the tears away with the pads of his thumbs. How would he ever be able to make her understand why he had left. He'd abandoned her because he was hopelessly, desperately in love with her at the time. He still was.

"I don't get it," she said, pulling away from the comfort of his arms. She felt claustrophobic all of a sudden, and needed to not be touching him in order to think clearly. She turned and stalked to the other side of the room. Her confusion giving way to anger. She stopped pacing and glared at him. Her hands curled into fists.

"Let me explain, Robin," Adam pleaded. He sensed the icy walls coming back up around her heart. The fortress he'd put there. "Please."

She closed her eyes and silently will herself to be strong. Gathering upon the determination she'd never had when it came to loving Adam Walker. She shook her head slowly from side to side. "No. I can't. I can't deal with this right now," she said. "And frankly, I seriously doubt I'll ever be able to. Please leave."

"Robin..." he started.

"Leave. Now!" she shouted.
