She noticed him looking at her for the third time as she waited in the line at the checkout counter. He was really attractive, and she was flattered that he was checking her out. She smiled at him, and he acted like he wanted to say something to her, but hesitated. Finally, after they'd worked their way through the long line, he held the door for her and they walked out together.

She thanked him and smiled nervously, anxious to see if he would break his silence.

"I'm sorry if it seemed like I was staring at you," he said and shifted from one foot to the other. "But I couldn't help but notice that the fly on your jeans is down. I didn't want to embarrass you inside the store, but thought I should tell you before you got too far."

Her cheeks burned scarlet and she covered her mouth with her hand. "Thank you," she muttered before fleeing around the corner. How mortifying. Here, she thought he was interested in her -- flirting with her -- when in actuality, he was trying to find a way to let her know she was giving him an unintended show.
